I'm coming down to Edinburgh this weekend* to celebrate Claire's birthday and the first ceilidh of the year. I'm only down for one night because I have to work on Saturday, so who else is going, and can I crash on someone's floor please?
*Weather permitting of course. Haven't driven in the snow yet... Current Mood: cheerful

Do you ever have phrases or lyrics that run through your mind for no reason? This is the latest one...
"All the lonely people. Where do they all come from?" - Eleanor Rigby, The Beatles.

Is anyone going to see Placebo on Monday in Glasgow? I was supposed to be going with a friend and they've had to bail, so it's just me.

I haven't been on here much recently. Part of that is because I'm currently running at one day off a month, and this is the third month of this. My next day off is next Sunday and to say I'm looking forward to it is a little bit of an understatement. Even more so because I'll have the Monday off too.
I haven't been up to much other than work. I'm in a brand new panto that's going to be at the theatre and several Primary schools. I have four or five minor cameo-type rolls. The Wee-Free minister is my favourite at the moment.
We have a Gospel choir showcase thing on Sunday, which should be interesting. Gospel singing, djembe drums, dancing, and a youth Christian metal band that will have to play acoustically. I only hope that performers don't outnumber the audience.
I ordered Dragon Age yesterday from Play.com and it still hasn't been sent out. On the other hand I ordered Modern Warfare 2 this afternoon and it's already been sent. It's not even released until Tuesday. That doesn't make much sense...
I'm going to go sleep now. I'm a bit worried that Robert Kilroy-Silk is beginning to make sense. Current Mood: Worn out

|Names Fail Me
At work we are looking for 2d artists and have had many applicants. Today someone turned up that I know from Edinburgh. Someone that I kind of know and bump in to every six months or so. Someone that I've known for years. But could I remember her name? Nope.
She's about the same height and build as me, has short curly dark red/brown hair, and she's from North America, can't remember if it's Canada or America. She goes to the Auld Hoose and the Studios. I think her name is Beth.
If someone could help me out it'd really help. I feel like a complete fool.
Good night. Current Mood: confused

I just worked out today that I have been working every single day since the 15th of September, the last time I was down in Edinburgh. Even then, I only had one full day off. I made sure the 40k club was running before I left on Saturday, and I had to be back in Elgin by 6pm to tech a show.
So I don't think it's too unreasonable to want a break. It helps that it's both Caroline's party and Ascension this weekend, unfortunately though both are the same night.
So this's post's main questions are: is it impolite to go to a party, then leave halfway through to go out with a different group of friends? I rarely get to see people so cramming in as much as possible into my visits makes sense, but I don't want to offend people at the same time.
The other is the age old favourite; can I stay at someone's this Saturday night?
On a side note or two, The Days Of Grays by Sonata Artica is outstanding. Especially the orchestral versions. Flashforward is a new show on channel 5, and after two episodes I'm hooked. The whole pre-detemination/free will is quite interesting. I hope they don't forget and ignore it. Current Mood: peaceful

|Need A New Game
I'm looking for a new mmo. I've given up with WoW after my last attempt at playing it failed after half an hour. Thankfully it was only a trial account, so I didn't waste my money. I might go back when the new expansion is released, I might not.
So I'm looking for a new mmo to
spend my time on. What do you recommend? I tried the Aion beta and quite liked it, I quite like WAR, Eve seems interesting but I'd need a new monitor to see the tiny fonts, and Conan was a joke. I've heard good things about Champions, although I haven't seen it in action or played it yet.
What are you playing, and would you recommend it? Current Mood: awake

|So Much For That Then
In my last post I said I'd try and write every day. That was three days ago, so you can see how successful I've been. Still, I have been meaning to write more and I have been on FB everyday looking around. It's a start.
Yesterday we had the first society meeting of my warhammer club. I am now officially the President, and there are three other exec members so that means I might actually have a weekend off now and again.
On a side note, for Hallowe'en we are planning on showing three films. Current line-up is Friday night - Sweeney Todd, Saturday - Rocky Horror (complete with dressing up, props and shout-outs), and the original Wickerman on Sunday. The only definite is Rocky Horror, we haven't fully agreed on the other two.
Next time: hopefully something more interesting. Current Mood: tired

Staying in contact with people I don't see regularly is not my strongest point. I want to try and change that. Therefore I'm challenging myself to post everyday either here or on Facebook.
So if there is anything you want to ask or talk to me about please do so. Current Mood: calm

It's been ages since I've been in Edinburgh, and since it's both scellanis
's birthday and Gamers' Fresher day I thought I'd pop down.
So, can I crash at someone's please? It would be Saturday and Sunday night.

I didn't get in to University. There go all my mid to long term plans of getting out of Elgin and getting a better career. Current Mood: depressed

I have my audition for the RSAMD on Friday. To say I'm nervous is a bit of an understatement. I'm really worried about this and I know I shouldn't be. I've three and a half years experience working as a theatre tech, and I've been involved with theatre groups since I was five. It's not as though I'm going in to this course blind, like I did with Comp Sci at Heriot-Watt.
I know that if I don't get in it will not stop me from looking for work at the Fringe, or closer to home in Inverness and Aberdeen. It might take longer, but I will get there. I want to be part of a crew. I can't explain the feeling I get when I'm working on/in a show. It makes me feel alive, and the more involved I am the stronger the feeling.
On a side note, I'll be in Edinburgh this weekend if anyone is about and wants to do something, let me know. Current Mood: anxious

It is possible to get sunny days at the beach up here! I took these at the beach next to a small village called Hopeman. They were taken on Sunday.
At the end of the sandy bit of the beach there is a large rock which used to be part of the Summer Solstice.
See, I told you that we did have good weather up here every now and again.

I've been spending more time (and money) on Warhammer stuff. Here is my latest project after about two hours of assembly and painting.( Read more...Collapse )
I managed to pick up a complete copy of second edition 40K last week. Not only does the box set have all the counters and models, the models are still on their sprues and most of the cards have not been popped out. I'm very impressed, and it was cheaper than the set was originally too.
As for my Marine Chapter, I think it's now going to be known forever as "The Mustard Marines". Guess I should have thought of a name before showing them off...
Good night, and I promise I will write stuff at some point. Current Mood: accomplished

I've been spending a lot of time(and money) recently on Warhammer models. This may have something to do with the warhammer club I started nearly two months ago that has become very successful. I've done something I didn't want to do, it started with the Black Reach set, I have... bought some Space Marines. I was intending to paint them in Imperial Fists colours (primary colour yellow, secondary colour is red), it didn't work out like that. I can't paint 'clean' models, it looks unrealistic to me.
So, can anyone offer any names for this new Chapter? They have a desert warrior feel to them. I've always bee a little crap with names so any help is welcome. There are a couple of pictures under the cut. They are not quite finished yet and the pictures don't quite do them justice.
Oh, and I need to stop watching DVDs as I paint. That's season 2 and more than half of 3 of DS9 in two weeks, not to mention a few episodes of 24 and B5.( Read more...Collapse ) Current Mood: accomplished

The Nationals are nearly here again, so I had better make arrangements. Does anyone have any spare sleeping space for Thursday the 16th and Sunday the 19th? Somewhere I can leave my car safely for the weekend would also be a plus.
A proper post is due soon, and I'll try not to disappoint. I still need to answer out0fcontrol's meme too.
